DG MAGAZINE

Volume 1

There are some people who cannot foresee what is going to happen tomorrow. And beyond. It is a sad state of affairs that we are one of them. As a nation, we are drawn towards taking actions only upon feeling the sting.

We treated cyber security in a similar fashion. For years we remained oblivious of the attacks wreaking havoc to industries and businesses all around the globe. While the world is actively grappling with the issues related to cyber security, we are only beginning to understand what it means to be affected by a virus.

Only recently, some cases surfaced on our landscape which attracted attention because of the heavy losses they incurred.

Cyber attacks, usually ransomware, are now common and ubiquitous. Specially alarming are those that target nuclear facilities. While the probability of physical attacks on nuclear plants is miniscule because of multiple layers of security measures, the threats of cyber attacks are very much real. Cases have been reported widely which generated a lot of interest and cyber security specialists were forced to sit up and take notice. Being a nuclear power, Pakistan cannot ignore the looming dangers. You will read a lot about these issues in pages ahead.

DG Magazine is focused on creating awareness about cyber security. The pages are filled with content that is informative, research oriented and valuable. Apart from articles, there are news reports gathered from all around the world.

And on top of these, there are solutions—creative and novel strategies to mitigate the threats and conduct day-to-day businesses in a peaceful environment.

We invite you to read on whether you are an IT professional, or an amateur looking forward to adopting the profession, or an executive keen on protecting your business from unwanted and unexpected losses.

Cyber security has become an integral part of life. Anyone who does not give the importance it deserves is in peril.

VOLUME 2

After the successful launch of our first volume and amid rave reviews from all corners of the world, we stand in good stead to present the second volume. Quite like its predecessor, this volume also packs a lot of information: articles of enduring value, news from all around the world, analyses of immense importance and a lot more.

Cyber attacks, usually ransomware, are now common and ubiquitous. Especially alarming are those that are state sponsored and target sensitive installations. While the probability of physical attacks at such places is miniscule because of multiple layers of security measures, the threat of a digital breach is very much real. You will read a lot about such issues in the coming pages: ransomware, critical infrastructure, drones and cyber politics. And there is a lot more including news reports gathered from all over the world which will provide a glimpse of what is happening on a much larger scale.

As you know, DG Magazine is focused on cyber security issues in particular and IT domain in general. While making sure of entertaining and informative articles covering a wider scope of cyber security issues and news reports gathered from far and wide places, our aim is to provide creative solutions to mitigate threats that have stressed businesses, organizations and governments across the planet.

On the status of cyber security, there is little to write home about. Besides being little known, the profession lacks leadership, skills and resources. In a survey conducted recently, more than 75% responders spoke of work-related stress; 57% thought that executive support is missing; and 93% believed lack of tools as the main reason that dampens their desire to combat the breaches.

All the reasons that add up to stress and disillusionment among security professionals. In spite of this state of affairs, work opportunities abound and chances of improvement are infinite. DG Magazine is dedicated toward making a difference in this profession.

Volume 3

Here is the third volume of DG Magazine. The two previous volumes have already won rave reviews. Readers who followed those issues are now eagerly waiting for the next. The editorial team along with our marketers and distributors are working day and night to make this magazine a must read for professionals of the industry.

Just like the previous two volumes, the present one also features several research-based articles together with news and reports gathered from all corners of the world.

Volume 4

You are holding the fourth volume of DG Magazine. Already you might have noticed a significant change in its look. After toiling with three volumes, we went back to the design boards and revisited the page layouts. You might agree that the overall look and feel has improved. In a survey we carried out before actually adopting the fresh new look, we asked several people from different strata and a majority of them liked to read from present layouts.

In matters of content, we have adhered to our principled strategy. Simple language, authentic material backed by research, and enduring stuff. The topics we select are current and relevant to the industry. After studying the issue from cover to cover, our readers have been known to eagerly wait for our next feed.

As before, your favourite magazine is packed with informative articles on a variety of technical subjects. Besides these, you will also get to know a lot about what is happening around the world from our news reports—gathered and selected carefully. In particular, you will find substantial coverage on the events following the Russia-Ukraine conflict. On top of these, the entire magazine would be a visual treat as well.

Our next volume will be out pretty soon with all the regular features and several interesting additions. Until then, enjoy these pages.

Volume 5

Here is the fifth volume marking completion of a set. In the next volume, things will be different. From layout to content. But the level of articles and selection of news will remain as pleasant as ever. And the layouts, though different, would remain as lovable and eye-catching as you have been accustomed to.

In months to come, you will get a diet of riveting, research-based articles on topical issues. And there will also be a stream of news reports gathered from all across the globe. Just like you have read in the five previous volumes.

For now, you will read articles on subjects like ‘Smart Grids’ and ‘Smart Cities.’ And there are thought provoking discussions on ‘Leadership Crisis’ in the profession and on ‘Boundaryless Laws.’ Every article is painstakingly produced backed by research, careful studies and analyses. You will come to realize that the content can easily be judged as reference material.

As always, the news items are picked from a vast repository of content available to everyone on the internet but hardly of any use because not everyone has the skill or time to search for stories that interest and inspire. In contrast to the usual prosaic and mundane stuff that you often come across elsewhere, you will settle with incisive and investigative reports that will entertain and provide substance.

Add to these, our regular features including interviews and first person accounts and you have a magazine that does not cease to amaze you with its content and presentation.

So, watch out for our next feed. You will get more of the entertaining, educative and enduring material right at your desktop—or your phone. The magazine you have come to like will always be available online.
